Questions
What is Giddy?
Giddy is a music streaming app for iOS, Android, and the web. It has an intuitive clock interface that puts you in control of your music and makes playlist creation much, much easier.
How do I get it?
Giddy is available in the iOS App Store, on Google Play for Android, and plays right in your browser at play.giddy.com.
How much does it cost?
Giddy is free. However, for now, you’ll need an Apple Music subscription to search and play music in Giddy. Apple Music subscriptions start at $10.99 per month. Don’t want to pay for Apple Music? Sign up for their one-month free trial. You’ll get access to 100 million songs ad-free in Apple Music and Giddy. You won’t be charged as long as you cancel before the free trial ends.
Who can use Giddy?
Giddy is for music lovers of all ages and all genres. Giddy does not yet have a setting to screen explicit content (this feature is planned). For this reason, parents and guardians may wish to supervise younger users. Giddy is free on iOS, Android, and the web, and requires an Apple Music subscription to search and play music.
What music is on Giddy?
All of the music you love will be on Giddy. That includes mainstream hits, indie music, and deep cuts. For now, you’ll need an Apple Music subscription to search and play music on Giddy. With that, you’ll get access to the entire Apple Music catalog, 100 million songs, ad-free, in Apple Music and Giddy.
How is Giddy different from other music streaming apps?
Giddy’s intuitive drag-and-drop interface puts you in control. Gone are the days of closing stacks of screens to see what plays next. Or adding songs to a queue that you cannot see. With Giddy, you simply “put” songs right where you want them. Giddy’s swipe interface grounds you in the action; you are always only one swipe away from your music.
Giddy’s Party Mode lets you listen live and build playlists with friends across any distance. Also planned, artists will be able to distribute their music directly to Giddy and collect 100% of the income from these streams. Finally, Giddy was built by a small team of music lovers, passionate about improving music for everyone.
How does Giddy work?
Giddy has three views:
1) Explore (search),
2) Now Playing (the clock face/music queue), and
3) My Music (your library).
Swipe left and right to flip between the views. Easily put songs from search or your library onto the queue via a simple drag and drop gesture. Want to play a song ten minutes from now? With Giddy it's simple. Just put it there.
How do I save a playlist on Giddy?
On iOS and Android, tap the three-dots menu icon at the top-right of the Now Playing screen and choose “Save playlist to My Music”. On the web player, open the Queue panel’s options (⋯) menu and choose “Save as playlist…”. Either way, once a playlist is open, your changes to it are saved automatically.
How do I add a song far into the future?
On the web player, just scroll the clock - it’s a rolling 60-minute view of a queue that can be any length, so you can spin it as far ahead as you like and drop a song anywhere, with no distance limit. On iOS and Android, drag-and-drop currently reaches about 45 minutes ahead; to place a song further out, tap it and choose “Add last in music queue”. We’re bringing the web player’s scrolling clock to the mobile apps.
How do I turn on shuffle play or repeat?
Tap the icons on the Now Playing bar to toggle shuffle on and off and cycle through repeat modes.
How do I connect to Apple Music?
When you open Giddy for the first time, you’ll be asked to connect an existing Apple Music subscription or start a new one. Just follow the prompts in Giddy. We earn affiliate income from new subscriptions, which helps fund Giddy’s development. Soon, you’ll be able to subscribe to Giddy directly, without the need to connect to Apple Music. But for now, this is necessary.
Can I import my playlists from other services?
Yes - on the web player at play.giddy.com. Export your library as a CSV from your current service (Exportify for Spotify, TuneMyMusic, or Google Takeout for YouTube Music all work), then choose “Import library” in Giddy. Giddy matches each track to its catalog, lets you review the matches, and rebuilds your playlists and saved songs. Import runs on the web player for now.
How do I distribute my music to Giddy?
Direct distribution to Giddy is coming - and artists will keep 100% of the income from those streams. Join the mailing list to get notified when it opens.
For now, all music content in Giddy comes from Apple Music. So, to distribute original music to Giddy, submit to Apple Music via your distributor of choice (we recommend CD Baby).
